UHMW

UHMW – Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene

Garland Manufacturing Company was the first North American processor of UHMW Polyethylene, beginning our work with UHMW in the mid 1950’s. With nearly 60 years of experience in manufacturing UHMW PE, our capabilities have grown to include over 350 stock and custom profile extrusions and profile shapes; a wide variety of UHMW board, UHMW rod, UHMW sheet, UHMW tubes and UHMW tapes; and complete CNC machining and assembly capabilities of finished parts.

Our stock sizes of our virgin grade, Gar-Dur brand of UHMW Polyethylene are inventoried in 10 foot, 30 foot, and 50 foot lengths. Garland specializes in complex profile extrusion, extrusion in long lengths (custom to over 300′ long), and custom blends and additive formulations of UHMW to achieve increased lubricity, UV resistance, antimicrobial properties, decreased coefficient of friction, and a wide variety of other physical and mechanical requirements.

About Us

Garland Manufacturing Company was founded in 1866 and was incorporated in 1873. The company is now owned and managed by the sixth generation of the Garland family. Garland Maunufacturing’s original products were primarily machine parts for textile mills, including loom pickers made of water buffalo rawhide. In April of 1984, the company moved to a new 53,000 square foot manufacturing facility in the Saco Industrial Park. Prior to that, the company had been located in the same building for 97 years. Today, the Plastics Division and the Hand Tools Division occupy over 100,000 square feet of manufacturing and warehousing space and the company continues to grow…
